Visual Arts Exhibition: Roger Lemay

The Municipality of Morin-Heights is pleased to present the works of local artist Roger Lemay for the first time.

The exhibition will run from September 16 to October 1st at Chalet Bellevue. A vernissage open to all will be held on September 16, from 17:00 to 20:00.

Take advantage of the first weekend to see a selection of large-format works on display on September 16 and 17 only!

Lemay draws his inspiration from wounds, both in the human and natural world. The artist’s aim is not to create gloomy works, but rather to create works that resonate with the observer’s wounds and calls for reflection. Lemay will mainly be presenting paintings and sculptures, including some very large-format works for the first weekend only.

The exhibition will end with a get-together on October 1st at 10:30, where you can discuss with the artist about his artistic approach and work. You’ll be able to ask him questions and learn more about his main source of inspiration: all the different wounds, whether visible or hidden.

Storytelling Show : "À la mémoire de mes ancêtres"

Through words, song and drum, Ivy presents us with the Legend of Glooscap, the story of the creation of the world according to Mi’gmaq teachings. Glooscap was the first Mi’gmaq to be given life on earth by the Great Spirit. This fabulous legend speaks of the origin of the world, the values of Mi’gmaq culture, the link to the land and the Great Spirit, respect for Mother Earth, animals, nature, and people.

Valérie Ivy Hamelin is accompanied in this show by Sadio Sissokho on the kora, a 21-string African harp. Sadio comes from a line of griots in Senegal’s Mandingo tradition. His presence and music lend a universal and ancestral dimension to the tale.

Show presented at Lummis Park, Thursday, September 21 at 18:00. Bring your chair or blanket to make yourself comfortable! In case of rain, the show will take place at Chalet Bellevue.
