Let’s locate invasive plants

Help Us Map Invasive and Nuisance Plants in Morin-Heights!

Some invasive plants are taking up increasing space in our natural environments. By spreading rapidly, they can harm biodiversity, disrupt natural habitats and, in some cases, pose risks to public health or infrastructure. Giant hogweed and Japanese knotweed are among the most concerning species already observed in the area.

To better document their presence across the territory and help guide future actions, the Municipality of Morin-Heights is launching a citizen-based inventory. We invite residents to report locations where they have observed invasive species, whether on their own property or elsewhere in the municipality.

Simply tell us where you observed it by describing the location as accurately as possible. You do not need to provide GPS coordinates or be certain of the plant’s identification to submit an observation. No botanical expertise is required. Every report helps us better understand the presence of invasive plants across the territory and identify areas that may require further documentation and monitoring.

To make it easier to process the information we collect, we ask that you submit your observations by filling out the questionnaire rather than in the comments section of this post. The questionnaire takes only a few minutes to complete. Please fill out a separate submission form for each location observed.

You can find various fact sheets on certain invasive plant species by clicking here.

The questionnaire is available in the “Surveys” section of the citizen portal.
