Les Grillons is the beautiful sound of music in the evening, when the weather is warm. The joyful resonance of rare species. At the heart of this collaboration are music journalist Sylvain Cormier (vocals and guitar) and documentary filmmaker Guylaine Maroist (vocals and guitar), brought together by a desire to create alongside their respective career. Over time, seasoned musicians were drawn to the hive: Réal Desrosiers (drummer for Beau Dommage), Mario Légaré (bassist and double bassist who has notably accompanied Michel Rivard and Octobre), Steve Normandin (master accordionist), and Caroline Dorion (formidable multi-instrumentalist) joined the group. Together, they bring to life a warm repertoire, driven by friendship, experience, and the obvious joy of making music.

In other words, there’s a buzzing energy in the tall grass of our local Americana scene, featuring country-rock and other flavours. Guitars, keyboards, percussion, accordion, a legendary bass-drum section, and rich vocal harmonies make up the sound of Les Grillons. With a mix of original songs and covers chosen with gusto and good taste, the band is the kind that draws in anyone flitting by. Authentic, generous, and unifying, Les Grillons’ music inspires small crowds of fireflies to light up the stages of a life we all wish for—literally, one that’s buzzing with life.
