Seniors Gourmet Day Trip in Chambly

CHAMBLY GOURMET DAY TRIP

Wednesday, September 20th, 2017

The Municipality invites its citizens aged 50 and over to visit in the City of Chambly.

Here is the day’s schedule:

o Fort Chambly Park
Arrival at Fort Chambly Park around 11:15 and a chance to stretch your legs before lunch.

o Lunch at Le Fourquet Fourchette Restaurant
Located on the banks of the Richelieu Basin in an old building dating from the 1920’s, the restaurant is situated right next to the Fort Chambly. The Fourquet Fourchette is decorated in a rustic style dotted with Quebec history and the world of brewing. Its bay windows offer a spectacular and unique view of the basin and the Fort Chambly itself. In the summer, the Fourquet Fourchette offers its patrons the chance to dine on its spectacular terrace, directly on the water level of the Chambly Basin. The meal includes a welcome cocktail, an appetizer, a main course that you have to choose when registering for the trip, as well as a dessert and tea or coffee.

o Fort Chambly
To counter the Iroquois threat, the Carignan-Salières regiment built the first fort in Chambly in 1665, at the foot of tumultuous rapids. Two other wooden forts would eventually replace the original, while the fourth fort built, this time in stone, still watches over the Richelieu. Fort Chambly recounts the adventures of colonization and the military conflicts that filled the many pages of our Canadian history. The fort has conserved the main components of its original architecture. You will really feel like walking in the footsteps of an 18th-century French infantryman.
Guided visit from 13:30 to 14:00 followed by free time to discover the fort until 15:15.

o Guyon Farm
The Guyon Farm is a farmers’ market and a garden centre with additional family activities such as the butterfly sanctuary. Visitors can buy fresh produce from the farm, find plants for their landscaping, and grab a bite to eat or admire over 400 butterflies such as the monarch or the blue butterfly "Morpho". A wide range of products are available, such as seeds, herbs, trees and shrubs, annual and perennial plants, gardening accessories, decoration items and a wide selection of local food products, bakery, cheese shop, butcher shop, on-site cooked meals and organic fruits and vegetables.
Guided tour of the butterfly sanctuary at 15:45; tasting of local products at 16:30. You will then have free time to either explore the site or simply make purchases if you wish to do so. Departure back to Morin-Heights is at 18:00.

All-inclusive price of $60 (residents) and $70 (non-residents) includes: transportation fee (deluxe coach with toilet), guided tours, sampling of local products, lunch, taxes, fees and service.

Registration is at the Town Hall.
Departure is at 9:00 from Basler Park (99, chemin du Lac-Écho), with your return scheduled around 20:00.

Information: 450 226-3232, ext. 102
